So, it’s been a hot minute since I’ve written a blog post and a lot has happened. After 21 years of being in the same house, I moved. I did not realize just how much time and effort this process was going to take until after I got started. Decluttering was the first and most challenging step. My new house has a much smaller storage area, so this was a necessity. It’s amazing how much stuff one accumulates in that period of time and with an unfinished basement to store it in. It was also necessary for staging the house for showings.
The next step was the packing and moving. Everyone thought I was crazy for the starting the packing at the beginning of March for a late April move but thank goodness I did. It really took that long. Once the move happened, it only took a couple of weeks to unpack and get into a new normal routine.
Yesterday, my husband and I attended an event where we got to meet our new neighbors and what better way to celebrate than with bubbles. Since this was an outdoor, casual event I went for Prosecco. The Jeio Prosecco was a great choice. It is made from the Glera grape and it’s yummy. It’s fruity-with citrus and pear and just a touch of minerality, to not make it over the top. It also had this almond, marzipan quality that was really pleasant. At 11% abv, you can drink this during the day and not get impaired, which was important when meeting new people. The bubbles were nice and small and made for a really nice texture and feel in the mouth.
This wine would pair well with anything and it did not disappoint. There was an assortment of chips, nuts, and desserts and it went well with all of them. It went well with the lemon bars and brownies but my favorite pairing of anything with bubbles is potato chips. Lays or chips with truffle oil in particular. It’s just the best.
This is a Prosecco that I will start to include in my weekly rotation. It will be delicious in this summer’s Aperol spritzers, as well as on its own. Besides, who doesn’t need to celebrate something on a weekly basis. I know I do and have found just the wine to do it with.
